Moertel: A Great Old-Timey Game-Programming Hack - Tom Moertel’s Blog

A long time ago, when I was a college undergrad, I spent some time working on computer video games. This was in the 8-bit PC era, so the gaming hardware was almost impossibly slow by today’s standards. It might not surprise you, then, to learn that, back then, game programmers did all sorts of crazy things to make their games run at playable speed...

If you upgrade Iceweasel with this to the latest version, currently 25, type in about:config, search for tls and set security.tls.version.max to 2
You will now use tls 1.1 & tls 1.2, if available on a website.
It's a thing also on last firefox on other systems?
On Firefox 26.0/Win "security.tls.version.max" = 1 ..

Friendica as OpenID server

First version, almost functional, of "openidserver" Friendica plugin:
use your profile url as openid! :-)

It use JanRain PHP openid libs, it's an adaption of example server.
It seems to work as basic openid server.

What don't works (yet):
- Login. You have to be already logged in Friendica when you try to login into some service with friendica profile url
- Extra data. The server will not send extra data (email, url,..) to clients. Needs an UI to select if send them or not (and which)..
- List of associates sites (and UI to delete association)

Boingboing: Renault ships a brickable car with battery DRM that you're not allowed to own (Cory Doctorow)

You can't buy a battery for the new Renault Zoe. Instead, you have to rent it. And if you stop making payments, the battery's #DRM will prevent you from recharging it.

well the thing "if you stop paying then the battery won't charge" it's not geeky stuff. I think people understand it better than philosophy things like "own your data" & co

Last breaking news!

Domain kirgroup.com come back from the death.
Don't ask me how, black magic things, I don't ask anything.

I had already registered "kirgroup.net", I'll keep it for something else (maybe a Red server? mmh..)

The good news is I don't have to change anything to my server, I don't have to "relocate" my friendica profile, I can keep my not-so-used email :-)

So, I'm back, I'm fine.

The bad news is nobody won the "domain name competition",
but if you'd like to have an account on kirgroup.com, send me a private message: you could find me in a good mood :-)

So
I have to register a new domain name for this server, as kirgroup.com is expired and gone.
I don't have any ideas ATM. I don't want to register "kirgroup" again, under another TLD.
Write some ideas in comments! To the chosen an account under new domain name on friendica, owncloud and email! :-)

Allora

I've registered kirgroup.net .. when ready, I'll update my server. Hopefully, friendica will keep to work: I've wrote a patch to "migrate" a server between domain names https://github.com/friendica/friendica/pull/826 .
Hope it will work :-)
Fabio 10 months ago
I don't know if this message will be delivered.

My domain (kirgroup.com) is expired and my register don't replies to my emails (from a while now, my first attempt to update my domain was a month ago..)

I'll try to recover from this, but I'm afraid I'll have to change my domain name...

@Arto my domain is already expired (I think you can write me mainly because of dns caching on your server, and also thanks to contact polling on friendica). The real question is "why they didn't renew my domain?", but now the question is "what i'll do? a new domain? or f**k off everything, I'll let expire also this vm and goodbye?". By now I'm going to sleep.

The Zen of Python, by Tim Peters

Beautiful is better than ugly.
Explicit is better than implicit.
Simple is better than complex.
Complex is better than complicated.
Flat is better than nested.
Sparse is better than dense.
Readability counts.
Special cases aren't special enough to break the rules.
Although practicality beats purity.
Errors should never pass silently.
Unless explicitly silenced.
In the face of ambiguity, refuse the temptation to guess.
There should be one-- and preferably only one --obvious way to do it.
Although that way may not be obvious at first unless you're Dutch.
Now is better than never.
Although never is often better than *right* now.
If the implementation is hard to explain, it's a bad idea.
If the implementation is easy to explain, it may be a good idea.
