Google: “The Future is Jingle” – The XMPP Standards Foundation
Jingle (XEP-0166 and XEP-0167) is the voice and media signallingprotocol developed by Google, Collabora, Yate, Tandberg and Jabber Inc(the latter two now part of Cisco), and standardized within the XSF.
Google's original VOIP protocol, as used in Google Talk, was animportant precursor to Jingle, and Google has now announced a switchoverto Jingle as their "primary signalling protocol" for voice calls "toand from Gmail, iGoogle, and Orkut."
This is really good news. What we would need now is a matrix of clients compatibility, including Google's. Guess it won't be long.
